Epiphanies are wonderful

Just have to say congrats on the epiphany. But also, no matter how your brain works, you are you and that's pretty wonderful.
I agree with ShyTrbleMaker, you are pretty wonderful already. Talented, determined and incredibly smart.

I am lucky to get to work with you and ask the questions. You get to do the hard work.

All you have is a different way of thinking and there are many advantages to that. Looking forward to the next few weeks as you move ahead on your journey.

Congratulations on the epiphany! Excellent to understand our own wiring! :)

May I suggest seeking alternative assistance rather than pharmaceutical?
For example, the three thousand year old tradition of Ayurveda, which works!
Taking a chemical substance will have a cost. Been there. :( Best wishes!

There are people in this world who naturally, as a part of their inner wiring, get information on multiple levels of input ALL THE TIME.
That's excellent news, Wolf Boy, and it seems to explain a lot.
But don't ever stop howling....
I understand the epiphany, had it myself years ago. It was great to finally realize that no...I wasn't lazy, stupid or crazy. And no, no level of "applying myself" would change things.
I just don't have the right levels of dopamine.
Or, the pathways that dopamine travels on are not as open as they should be.

Either way....it's no different really than having high cholesterol or being diabetic.

There ARE natural things that can help, but in addition to a dopamine-enhancing medication. Things such as Omega 3 supplements.

Please don't be discouraged if:
1. You don't like your first psychiatrist. If you don't feel that you're being fully listened to, move along. Sadly, some are d-bags. Both my SO and I have had to try out different ones.
2. You might not get the right meds the first go round. They all affect the brain chemicals differently, and what works on me might not work on you. There is a sort of hazing period for both getting used to the abrupt change in your brain chemistry, and.....oh bother. I just got distracted by a car in front of my apartment and completely lost my damn train of thought and now I forget the second half there. No, I'm not kidding.

And I only just now notice that this was written a few months ago, so I hope you've made a few steps on this journey. Either way, if you'd like to talk to someone who's been in the trenches (actually, is still in the trenches and has fashioned curtains for said trenches) please feel free to email me.
